Members of the Ghana Armed Forces recite the National Pledge of Ghana at the start of the African Lion 2023 patching ceremony in Tamale, Ghana, June 5, 2023. African Lion is an annual training event consisting of military personnel from the U.S., Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. The exercise increases the capabilities and interoperability to respond to threats within Africa and strengthen ties between the U.S. and participating nations. 18 nations and approximately 8,000 personnel will participate in African Lion 2023, U.S. Africa Command's largest annual combined, joint exercise that will take place in Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia from May 13-June 18, 2023.
