The battle for the top three spots in the intramural volleyball championship came to a close June 1 at Yano Fitness Center, with U.S. Army Garrison Japan defeating the 311th Military Intelligence Battalion in the finals of the double-elimination tournament.
The Garrison team was undefeated going into the final, meaning the 311th needed to win the first match in order to force a face-off. They started strong, edging out their opponents 25-22 in the first of the best-of-three games. Garrison came back and tied things up in the second game, winning it 25-18. The third game was close, but Garrison pulled ahead in the end and won it 15-12 securing the first-place trophy.
