230608-N-KW492-0025 EAST CHINA SEA (June 8, 2023) Sonar Technician (Surface) 3rd Class Kiera Taylor, from Lewisberry, Pennsylvania and Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Logan Bohl, from Carney, Nebraska, search for underwater contacts on consoles in the combat information center of the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54) while it participates in Surface Action Group (SAG) operations in the East China Sea, June 8, 2023. Antietam is assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70, and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 5, and is participating in a multiple large deck event, that has U.S. Navy carrier strike groups led by flagships USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), joined with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s (JMSDF) Izumo-class helicopter destroyer JS Izumo (DDH 183) along with surface units from Canada and France.
