Rhett Blackmon, right, speaks with Colorado River Locks Lockmaster Robert George about lock operation at the project in Matagorda, Texas, June 6, 2023. Blackmon made a visit to the locks to speak with staff about current projects and maintenance related to the project. The Colorado River Locks provide navigation access through the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, assisting vessels crossing the intersection of the Colorado River. They enable the transit of more than 12,000 tows, over 30,000 recreational or commercial vessels, and 20 million tons of product annually, significantly impacting the local, state, and national economies.
