    II Marine Expeditionary Force

U.S. Marines assigned to 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) communicate inside of a concealed High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) in preparation for a simulated fire, Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida, May 30, 2023. The HIMARS conceals itself before its fire and then travels to an open area to conduct the fire to maintain stealth and safety against enemies. The simulated fire was part of Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), providing artillery support training as part of 26 MEU’s Special Operations Capable Certification. Expeditionary Operations Training Group organized C2X as the culminating exercise in the 26th MEU’s pre-deployment training program, ensuring they are ready to respond as a forward-deployed, sea-based MAGTF, capable of conducting amphibious operations as a crisis-response force-in-readiness and able to conduct contingency operations across the full spectrum of military operations.
