A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey takes off during an amphibious assault, Onslow Beach, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, June 2, 2023. The assault was the final event of Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), providing training of Marine movement from ship to shore with follow-on action as part of 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Special Operations Capable Certification. Expeditionary Operations Training Group organized C2X as the culminating exercise in the 26th MEU’s pre-deployment training program, ensuring they are ready to respond as a forward-deployed, sea-based MAGTF, capable of conducting amphibious operations as a crisis-response force-in-readiness and able to conduct contingency operations across the full spectrum of military operations.
