Lt. Gen. Andrew Harrison, Deputy Commander of United Nations Command, gives the opening remarks during the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Symposium held at the Morning Calm Conference Center, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, Republic of Korea, 13 June 2023.
The symposium is held to educate U.S., Korean, and UN Sending State military and civilian officials about the Women, Peace, and Security Symposium, its principles and how they impact combined readiness. The symposium also focused on integrating Gender Advisors and Gender Focal Points in planning operations, activities and investments of UNC/CFC/USFK.
The goal of the United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea WPS program is to promote meaningful contributions of women in the defense and security sectors on the Korean Peninsula.
