U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Chad Thomas, a crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, teach Navy Midshipmen with the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, how to use a life preservation device before an MV-22B Osprey flyover aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), in the Pacific Ocean, June 12, 2023. Midshipmen visited the USS America to receive an aboard ship experience to better prepare them for the roles and expectations of a U.S. Navy officer during their four-year degree program. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
