    Alan Schultz, great nephew of U.S. Navy Chief Machinist’s Mate Ralph Derrington, is presented a flag by U.S. Navy Reay Admiral Ingrid Rader, Commander Pacific Fleet reserve commander of information of fleet information warfare command pacific, during an interment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, June 20, 2023. Derrington, 42, of Columbus, Ohio, killed during World War II, was accounted for on March 25, 2021, by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. On Dec. 7, 1941, Derrington was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft. The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize. The attack resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen, including Derrington. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
