230609-N-SE686-1004 MCAS IWAKUNI, Japan (Jun. 9, 2023) Equipment Operator 2nd Class Clayton Kreitler, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, and Equipment Operator 1st Class Christopher Rawls, assigned to NMCB 5, review Cap and Close MCAS Landfill plans and specifications. The Cap and Close MCAS Landfill project is for the prevention of BASH (Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard) on Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni airfield. NMCB 3 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB 3 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
