U.S Marines with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, set security during a field exercise at Shoal Water Bay Training Area, Australia, July 2, 2023. The Marines of 3rd LAR conducted conducted road security tactics by simulating denying a enemy access to roads through use of communication as well as firepower. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
