The 19th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Troy E. Black, delivers the Marine Corps Battle Colors to the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger, during a Relinquishment of Office ceremony at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. on July 10, 2023. Gen. Berger relinquished the office to Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Eric M. Smith. Until a new Commandant is confirmed by the Senate and appointed to the position, Gen.
