    26th Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Tamica Blanchard, an aviation boatswain’s mate (aircraft handling) with the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), briefs Marines and Sailors on proper etiquette to man the rails of the ship, Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Jul. 10, 2023. Manning the rails is a long-standing naval tradition performed to render honors prior to a ship departing a port. The 26th MEU(SOC) and Bataan ARG are trained and certified in a wide range of flexible capabilities across the spectrum of military conflict. Throughout their deployment, they will train and conduct operations alongside Allies and Partners, improving interoperability while demonstrating the combat power and flexibility of the Navy-Marine Corps team.
