U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare to board an MV-22B Osprey with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st MEU, after completing their objectives at a forward arming and refueling point at Shoalwater Bay Training Area, July 6, 2023. The extract provided Marines within an expeditionary advanced base of operations to return to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6) and establish another EABO if needed. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
