Mr. Ino Toshiro, State Minister of Defense, Japan Ministry of Defense, presents a wreath at the Kaneohe Klipper Memorial on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, July 11, 2023. The memorial stands in honor of the Sailors and civilian killed in the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on then-Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay. MARFORPAC, MCBH, and the 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment hosted State MOD Ino to discuss U.S. Marine Corps transformational improvements to its capabilities, and how these improvements will optimize our force posture in the Indo-Pacific, including in Japan. These improvements will provide more versatile, resilient, and mobile capabilities for the defense of Japan, in accordance with the January 2023 Joint Statement of the U.S. Japan Security Consultative Committee (2+2).
