U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18), move pallets of supplies while conducting a replenishment at sea aboard the USS New Orleans, in the Coral Sea, July 20, 2023. A RAS provides the advantage to sustain extended maritime operations while at sea. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
