U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S. Navy Sailors transport pallets of supplies between the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and the Military Sealift Command replenishment oiler USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE-14) during a replenishment at sea, in the Coral, July 20, 2023. A RAS provides the advantage to sustain extended maritime operations while at sea. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
