U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy corpsmen with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a blood transfusion exercise aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), in the Coral Sea, July 21, 2023. The valkyrie training qualifies Marines to be able to conduct emergency blood transfusion in combat environments. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
