Clark, commander, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, prepare to award three Marines and a Navy corpsman with three Silver Stars and a Navy Cross during an awards ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Dec. 3, 2012. Mabus presented a Navy Cross to Sgt. William B. Soutra, Jr., and Silver Stars to Maj. James Rose, Staff Sgt. Frankie Shinost, Jr., and Petty Officer First Class Patrick Quill. The Marines and corpsman were awarded for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity against the enemy while engaged in combat missions in Helmand province, Afghanistan, nearly two years ago.
