U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6) prepare for a sumo wrestling competition aboard the USS America, in the Coral Sea, June 30, 2023. The sumo event was held to improve morale and inspire friendly competition in-between operations and exercises conducted while at sea. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
