Sikes, a Savannah, Ga., native and calibrations chief with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, walks at the front of a group of volunteers who participated in relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, November 2012. Sikes' command granted him permission to join his volunteer group, the Crystal Coast, N.C., chapter of Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, as they ventured north from Camp Lejeune, N.C., to deliver money and food.
