John Hughes III, Fort Jackson’s chief of police, watches as a firefighter hits the target in a dunk tank. The dunk tank was just one of many ways law enforcement and the community came together during Fort Jackson’s National Night Out event at Patriots Park. National Night Out is an annual event held the first Tuesday in August in order to build partnerships between police and those they serve. Hughes said the event was ‘probably one of the most critical events’ Fort Jackson Police Department does all year.
