A U.S. Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, plays a game of rock-paper-scissors with an Royal Australian Navy sailor aboard the guided-missile destroyer HMAS Brisbane (DDG 41) during a simulated replenishment at sea for Talisman Sabre 23, aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), in the Coral Sea, Aug. 1, 2023. We strengthen existing alliances and partnerships, and cultivate new ones, through development of interoperable capabilities, combined operations, theater security cooperation, and capacity-building efforts. Talisman Sabre is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns.
