Students in the Army/Navy Respiratory Therapy program at the Medical Education and Training Campus, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, prepare to establish an artificial airway in order to connect the "patient" - a simulation mannequin - to a portable mechanical ventilator. The METC Respiratory Therapy program teaches students the skills necessary to function as respiratory therapists in critical care areas in order to provide care to patients with a variety of lung diseases or disorders. Graduates of the program earn an associate degree.
