Students in the Army/Navy Respiratory Therapy program at the Medical Education and Training Campus, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, make adjustments on the mechanical ventilator connected to a "patient" - a simulation mannequin - based on patient condition and blood gas results. The METC Respiratory Therapy program teaches students the skills necessary to function as respiratory therapists in critical care areas in order to provide care to patients with a variety of lung diseases or disorders. Graduates of the program earn an associate degree.
