230801-N-DP708-1052 PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 1, 2023) Aviation Structural Mechanic (Equipment) 3rd Class Aiden Woodside, front, a native of Port St. Lucie, Florida , and Aviation Structural Mechanic (Equipment) 2nd Class Pawithraka Fernando, a native of Staten Island, New York, install seats on an F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the “Bounty Hunters” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 2, in the hangar bay of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1’s flagship, is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. Integrated exercises prepare our Sailors to respond quickly. U.S. 3rd Fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict.
