Douglas Woods, from Boise, Idaho, a Soldier with the Idaho Army National Guard assigned to U.S. Army Central competing in the U.S. Army Forces Command Best Squad Competition sprints toward the finish line while conducting an Expert Physical Fitness Assessment, Aug. 17, 2023, on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The EPFA is a combat-focused physical assessment and is conducted in the Army Combat Uniform, boots, body armor and helmet. The Warrior Ethos states, “I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit, and I will never leave a fallen comrade.” This Ethos, lived by every Soldier, embodies the squad mentality and spirit, bonds teams, and enhances a squad's overall success as a cohesive unit.
