A U.S. Army Reserve Soldier, with the 996th Engineering Company, engages enemy fire during a convoy training exercise at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Aug. 23, 2023. Horizontal construction engineers faced multiple training challenges including chemical gas, improvised explosive devices, injured Soldiers and an ambush. Training included a walk, crawl, run phase to prepare the Soldiers for real-life situations.
