During a training exercise, Raleigh, N.C., native, 1st Lt. Cydnia Jackson, left, tells Sgt. Carlos Merchan, of Miami, where to drive his vehicle after arriving at an operational decontamination site near Simmons Lake, Dec. 11. Jackson, the chemical officer for 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment, XVIII Fires Brigade, helped set up the site. Merchan and other Troops of Battery B, 3-321 FAR, troops went to the site after a simulated attack with mustard gas. As the truck commander, Merchan and his driver were directed to a vehicle wash-down station prior to going to the personnel decontamination site. 3-321 FAR conducted the culminating training event to prepare for its upcoming assignment as a quick reaction and rapid response force for the U.S. Army North Command in support of emergencies in the United States.
