Rene Van Slate, right, briefs Lt. Gen. Terry G. Robling Dec. 14 on U.S. Agency for International Development Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance support to Philippine-led disaster relief operations at Villamor Air Base in Manila, Republic of the Philippines. The III Marine Expeditionary Force Forward Command Element, which is providing coordination and command and control of Marine Corps support to relief efforts, has been coordinating support to USAID's efforts to support the Philippine Government and Armed Forces response to Typhoon Pablo (international name Bopha). Van Slate is the humanitarian assistance advisor to U.S. Pacific Command. Robling is the commanding general for Marine Corps Forces Pacific.
