Round Canopy Parachuting Team Netherlands parachutes onto dropzone "A" for a special remembrance jump, "Vincent Speranza Memorial Jump," at the Koeveringsedijk in Eerde on September 14, 2023.
During the event, the RCPT was joined by 101 Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who assisted the jumpers in Drop Zone duties and were proud to be on the hollowed grounds where their predecessors stood nearly 79 years ago. This event is part of the 79th commemoration week of Operation Market Garden. This day was special to the members of the RCPT and the 101st Soldiers who dedicated this jump to Vincent Speranza, who passed away earlier this year and all the WWII veterans who are no longer with us, and all the members who demonstrated the selfless service and sacrifice that characterizes the Greatest Generation in defense of global peace and security.
Operation Market Garden was an Airborne Operation that took place in the Netherlands during World War 2 and is remembered in the Netherlands today, not only to as a commemoration for those who fought and died, but also as a celebration of the liberation of the Netherlands that came about during the months following Operation Market Garden.
