Jacob Rothberger, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers debris removal team environmental engineer with Fort Worth District, receives a commander's coin Sept. 12 from Brig. Gen. Kirk E. Gibbs, 34th Commander and Division Engineer of the Pacific Ocean Division, USACE. The coin was presented to Rothberger for outstanding work in support of the Hawaii Wildfires mission.
USACE is actively supporting Maui County, the state of Hawai’i and FEMA by providing temporary power and critical public facilities to include a temporary elementary school in Lahaina and supporting the county's removal of debris from areas impacted by the wildfires. As commander of the USACE POD, Gibbs is responsible for regional authority over four USACE districts, including the Honolulu District.
