Master Chief Petty Officer Terry Delacruz, command master chief, Navy Operational Support Center Ventura County, presents a "challenge coin" to Phil Nicholls, Vietnam Army veteran and two time Purple Heart recipient, with World War II Army veteran Edwin Fallek (center) in the background during a Pearl Harbor memorial at the Shoreline Care Center as a part of the Spirit of ’45 celebration Dec. 7. Full-time support and Navy Reserve sailors visited the facility to spend time with veterans and pay tribute to those lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Organized by VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and Shoreline, the event featured WWII memorabilia from Touching History, a touring military museum, and a POW/MIA static display provided by NOSC Ventura County.
