A U.S. Army AH-64E Apache helicopter from TF Spartan, 106th Aviation Regiment Assault Helicopter Battalion, conducts a an engagement during Red Sands 23.2 using a missile optimized to target adversary Unmanned Aerial Systems and littoral targets. Red Sands 23.2 Live Fire Exercise is a counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) exercise conducted by the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces and U.S Army Central. This bilateral exercise at the Shamal-2 Range in northeastern Saudi Arabia is the second iteration of the Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center (IEC) concept, a forum to test and field counter-UAS systems and implement best practices to optimize interoperability between partners and systems.
