Firefighters from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras train and compete during the CENTAM SMOKE Sept. 21, 2023, at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. The five-day exercise is organized by the 612th Air Base Squadron to train firefighters in safety procedures, firefighters’ tactics and techniques, use of protective equipment, rope rescue, structural and aircraft firefighting, motor vehicle extrication, as well as increasing mutual assistance, develop camaraderie through friendly competitions, and strengthen knowledge through the exchange of practices between countries and training under real scenarios.
