U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Lamar Turner, a 56 M - Religious Affairs specialist and the acting 1st Sgt. of the 7th Mission Support Command's Headquarters and Headquarters Company discusses his transition from active duty Army into America's Army Reserve, Sept. 28, 2023, during a community engagement event with cadets from Kaiserslautern High School's Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Turner discussed his time as a vocalist with the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus, elaborating on a less well known field in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.
"Students were interested and surprised about this opportunity to serve, travel, and perform, not only on the active side, but in the Reserve as well."
The engagement allowed students a glimpse at the many paths to service in America's Army Reserve, highlighting a variety of career fields, as well as professional and civilian education opportunities.
The 7th Mission Support Command is THE Army Reserve Presence in Europe. Comprised of 26 units across Germany and Italy, the 7th provides logistics and sustainment support for U.S. Army Europe and Africa missions throughout the theater.
