Sgt. Nicholas Cornett, (left) with the Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment uses a metal detector on candidates November 6, 2023, at Grafenwohr South Land Navigation Course, Germany, to ensure they have nothing that is not allowed to assist them on the Land Navigation Course during the E3B, which is the Expert Soldier Badge (ESB), Expert Field Medic Badge (EFMB) and Expert Infantry Badge (EIB). Candidates are only allowed to utilize a compass, protractor, map, and writing utensil during this test ensuring mastery of this exercise.
