Candidates are released to plot their courses to their next objective during E3B, which is the Expert Soldier Badge (ESB), Expert Field Medic Badge (EFMB), and Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) on November 6, 2023, at Grafenwoehr South Land Navigation Course, Germany. Candidates must correctly mark three of the four possible points in order to pass the day portion of the Land Navigation course.
Day and night land navigation is the second step in competing for these badges. Testing takes one week, and pass rates are usually at or below 20% of the starting candidates on their quest to earn the badge.
