Paratroopers assigned to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, oversaw the use of the obstacle course to explain the requirements of each station and ensure the course was completed safely. The event was a team-building exercise for the players to promote communication and trust. Jernigan is a first baseman and native of Benson, N.C., and Schmidt is a pitcher/outfielder and native of Austin, Texas. Both are sophomores.
