Gen. Songwit Noonpackdee, Chief of Defence Forces of Thailand, meets with U.S. Special Operations Command Korea (SOCKOR) leaders at Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea, on Nov. 15, 2023, and discusses unique special operations considerations with Brig. Gen. Derek N. Lipson, SOCKOR commander. During the meeting Lipson described the unique capabilities of SOCKOR while also highlighting the many relationships they share with their ROK Allies and other United Nations Command (UNC) Member States. During the Korean War, the Kingdom of Thailand sent food aide a mere five days after hostilities commenced on June 25, 1950 and Thai soldiers distinguished themselves helping to defend the Republic of Korea as a part of a broader UNC coalition.
