Walter Reed Director, U.S. Navy Capt. Melissa Austin and Sgt. Maj. Dennis Waycaster participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate a Discharge Lounge for patients and their families at Walter Reed on Nov. 15, 2023. These specialized spaces give patients a quiet, comfortable place to relax during the discharge process, allowing hospitals to turn around beds more quickly, reducing the wait times for incoming patients.
