Michael “Laughing Fox” Charette, a Native American storyteller and musician, has his instrument collection and fox mask on display during Fort McCoy’s National Native American Heritage Month event on Nov. 14th, 2023. Charette is a self taught Native flute player which he uses to enhance his storytelling along with playing a drum. He travels and teaches others Native American history, culture, art, and spirituality. November is Native American Heritage Month, or as it is commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.
