An artificial cavity made of PVC pipe, western cedar plants, plywood, perforated steel, paint and putty at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Dec. 5, 2023. The artificial habitat was created by members of the Fort Stewart Fish and Wildlife Service for the capture of red-cockaded woodpeckers. A total of six red-cockaded woodpeckers were collected from Fort Stewart for translocation to Sprewell Bluff Wildlife Management Area to grow the refuge's population of red-cockaded woodpeckers.
