U.S. Air Force BQM-167A Subscale Aerial Targets are prepped for launch at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, Dec. 8, 2023. The 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron, in connection with the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group, operates the Department of Defense’s only full-scale aerial target program and specializes in recovering BQM-167 subscale drones. The proximity of Tyndall to the live-fire ranges over the Gulf of Mexico allows units the opportunity to train in real-world scenarios to ensure readiness in support of worldwide operations.
