The Connecticut Air National Guard, or CTANG, was the first Air National Guard unit to receive A-10A Thunderbolt II aircraft on April 23, 1979. 29 years later in 2008, when the airframe was retired from service with the Flying Yankees, CTANG A-10 aviators had accumulated 132,259.8 flight hours and fired over 3,000,000 rounds of 30mm ammunition from the platform over the course of their numerous training missions, deployments to Europe and the Middle East.
