On April 8, 2008, the 118th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron transferred the last of their A-10 aircraft after being realigned to perform airlift operations. This change redesignated the squadron to the 118th Airlift Squadron and resulted in the Connecticut Air National Guard transferring, and in some cases retiring, their A-10 aircraft for C-130H transport aircraft.
