Roberta Reis, Chief of the Guidance and Educational Support Company, Almirante Milcíades Portela Alves Instruction Center, speaks about the integration of female recruits into male training battalions, Jan. 16, 2024, at the Almirante Milcíades Portela Alves Instruction Center, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Marines from the U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, assessed the training processes and infrastructure of the Brazilian Marine Corps to aid in Brazil’s first group of female Marine Corps recruits. The integration will begin February 2024 and will create service opportunities that were previously closed to women.
