U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Malachi Rock watches a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter from an observation point during a tactical air control party during exercise Bougainville III at Pohakuloa Training Area, Feb. 1, 2024. Bougainville III is a 3d Littoral Combat Team live-fire exercise focused on decentralized operations to prepare the battalion to command and control forces from dispersed locations. TACP consists of Marine joint fire observers and joint terminal attack controllers who coordinate with aircraft to conduct close air support drills.
