AT-TAQADDUM, Iraq - Marines with Sierra Battery, 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, work together to reposition their M-777 Howitzer here, Mar. 8. With the rest of their unit in Fallujah, the battery has relocated here. The role of any artillery unit is to provide support to troops on the ground by softening the enemy's position from a distance. The Howitzer is a long-range, indirect weapon system. A slight miscalculation can drastically effect a round's destination.
