U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 47th Operational Support Squadron radar approach control (RAPCON) track and monitor aircraft flying in the airspace around Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, Feb. 12, 2024. RAPCON keeps aircraft separated by at least 1,000 feet to ensure safety regulations. RAPCON begins to get in contact with aircraft when they are about 60 miles away from Laughlin, providing information to pilots about where they should fly to stay safe.
